Woodwind Workshops 15-16 Nov 2017

Woodwind Workshops for Any Age or Stage

The South Burnett Community Orchestra, with support from the Regional Arts Development Fund, will be hosting a series of Woodwind Workshops.  They will be held on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th November at the Uniting Church Hall, corner of Alford and Youngman st, Kingaroy.  All woodwind players are welcome to attend for one, some or all sessions.  This is suitable for those who have started playing recently or haven’t picked up their instrument in a while through to confident musicians.  The workshops will be led by Margaret Harrison, an experienced teacher, conductor and Music Festival Director.  Please register by 7th November if possible with Rhonda Smith, 0427 657 659 so we can arrange appropriate music.  Cost is $10 per day and includes light meals. ($20 for the full workshop series). 

Schedule:
Wednesday 15th November 
1pm to 5pm: Ensemble playing.  Play pieces you’ll know and enjoy, arranged by one of Australia’s leading musicians, Mark Walton
Light dinner is provided 
6pm to 8pm: Orchestral music.  Join with SBCO members to work on sections from the current repertoire.

Thursday 16th November
9am to 11am: Christmas Carols.  Play some familiar pieces for the festive season, with the option to join an ensemble for the Christmas Carnival
11am to 12noon: Ensemble playing.
Light lunch is provided
1pm to 4pm:  Master class.  Bring a familiar piece to play for everyone.  There is much to learn from listening to other players.  Please bring extra copies of your piece.
